Aquaforte Ultrasieve 3 Three Inlets Complete Range
UltraSieve filters are the most reliable pre-filters on the market. This is partly due to the simple design, with just one moving part. The pre-filter is not self-cleaning, but it is very easy to maintain. Open the slide valve and the debris can be washed away. The UltraSieve pre-filters have a stainless steel filter element that never needs to be replaced. Thanks to the triangular stainless steel rods at a 7° angle, the water falls directly through the sieve, but the debris remains. A major advantage of this principle is that the debris is truly removed from the water circulation. This is highly beneficial to the water quality, because waste products are no longer polluting the water.

Highest mineral density resulting in the best biofilm growth
To achieve the sinking behaviour of the K+ Sinking it is made with the highest mineral density which means it holds the most potential for biofilm growth and due to its rougher surface it's got very strong mechanical performance as it grips onto particles. It's actually one of our strongest medias but with it being sinking restricts it to certain setups as people rarely use downflow, but if you can find a place where K+ Sinking might work it'll perform incredibly well in both Biological and Mechanical performance.
K1 Moving Bed Technology
Moving bed media has many advangates over traditional static bed filters including a huge surface area which is always exposed to maximum oxygen and food for the bacteria, self cleaning media as it tumbles, and the world famous protected surface area, enabling bacteria and higher organisms to dwell in their preferred location inside the media, exposed to oxygen and food, but safe from harmful cleaning practices.
Over the last twenty years there has been a wholesale shift over to moving bed technology in pond filters, and Evolution Aqua were the pioneers.
No one has much experience or has carried out as much research and development into this important area of biological filtration as Evolution Aqua.

The result of this process, unique to Evolution Aqua, is a filtration media that not only outperforms most of its competitors due to its large protected surface area, but also answers the problem of how to speed up the time taken to mature your filter.With a new shape and profile, K+Media has also been designed to have an increased and class leading surface area, meaning an overall surface area of 1,350m2 per m3.More importantly for biological filtration, the protected surface area of K+Media is 1,025m2 per m3.This allows a stable bio-film to form and remain intact when used in moving bed biological filtration, as in the new Nexus+.
The shape of K+Media optimises the amount of “quiet zones” within the media where a stable bio-film can develop.Whilst K+Media keeps the integral profile of K1 Media at its core, there is an extra layer of cells and fins around the outside of each piece that enable microscopic organisms such as Rotifers and Vorticella to thrive.This is an additional benefit as competitor media do not have such “quiet zones” that would allow these higher lifeforms of filter feeders to develop.The bacteria and organisms that form within the bio-film ensure the media delivers optimum levels of biological filtration in the moving bed, which has been proven filtration technology for many years in the fishkeeping hobby.
Evolution Aqua Tempest Filter
The Tempest Filter is an innovative polishing system for ponds that will help to deliver crystal clear, healthy water. Designed to be used in conjunction with most filtration systems, the Tempest offers additional mechanical and biological filtration. The Evolution Aqua Tempest Filter can also be used on quarantine systems or as a standalone filter on smaller ponds. The Evolution Aqua Tempest Pond Filter is easy to install and is simple and quick to clean, by way of a unique, patent pending air syphon design. Air Clean Technology
Zeolite 10ltr (SuperFish)
Zeolite reduces the Ammonia in your pond creating a healthier environment for your Koi. It works by trapping and absorbing Ammonia, extracting it from your ponds water. Ammonia is the number one killer of pond fish, maintaining a health level of ammonia within in your ponds ecosystem is essential, and this product can aid in this process. As it absorbs the ammonia, soaking in salt overnight will release the entrapped ammonia enabling it to be reused. However, should you need to treat your pond with salt or other medications you must remove the Zeolite from your filter system as the entrapped ammonia will be released back into your system.
Oase Hel-X 13 Bio Media
The Oase Hel-X 13 bio media breaks down nutrients and pollutants extremely effectively using the fluidised bed method. The latest development of this filter medium impresses with a sensational surface area of 955 m² per m³ and an extremely large, protected colonisation surface for microorganisms of 806 m² per m³. 25 litres of Hel-X 13 can break down 170 g of fish food per day. Suitable for removing toxins such as ammonium, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. The new Hel-X media are white in colour. They gradually turn brownish in colour so that the degree of colonisation is clearly visible. Hel-X 13 tower packings are particularly effective and cost-effective, and the medium does not need to be cleaned in combination with drum pre-separation.

Plastic media, for use in biological pond filters – specifically in moving bed bio reactors, was pioneered by Evolution Aqua, some 20 years ago. In recent years, other plastic media have come onto the market, usually with the aim of trying to get more and more surface area. However, one drawback to using plastic media has always been the time it takes to establish a stablebiofilm – essential for good filtration.After many years of research, Evolution Aqua have now developed a new media that not only gives class leading surface area, but also overcomes the problem of long maturation times.Minerals added for faster filter maturationDuring the extrusion process, Evolution Aqua add a range of minerals, along with magnesium, calcium, enzymes and salt to the raw material that is used to manufacture K+Media. The result means that K+Media will mature much faster than many other types of media.
Pumice Stone Filter Media
Pumice stone Filter Media is now being used extensively as an alternative to traditional koi pond filter media in trickle filters and trickle towers .Pumice stone Filter Media is inert and rapidly colonises with beneficial bacteria which help cleanse the pollutants. It is highly porous making it the ideal media for biological filters of all kinds. Efficient biological filtration depends on the media of choice having an adequate specific surface area (SSA), adequate voiding and water retention time. Pumice Stone Filter media has a massive surface area and is therefore ideal in this application. It can be used as a direct replacement to other ceramic based filter media.
Alfagrog
Alfagrog is a volcanic rock, proven to be a successful filter media as it ideal for the colonization of beneficial bacteria. The porous composition of this media allows the bacteria to multiply in abundance over a short period of time. The sharp edges of this natural rock require careful handling, and it is best situated in the last chamber of your filter, as you would not want your Koi rubbing against it! Remember to wear protective gloves whilst cleaning.
Why is it so effective:The key to effective biological filtration is choosing media with the highest surface area possible to allow beneficial bacteria to colonise and remove waste from the water. Alfagrog has an extremely high surface area by volume compared with other types of filter media on the market.Alfagrog is very inert and soon colonises with beneficial bacteria. Alfagrog is made of a highly porous material that contains many thousands of tiny pockets in which bacteria can thrive making in an ideal material for biological filtersIts only draw back is its sharp on the hands when cleaning so please wear gloves..
Kusuri Lithaqua
Kusuri Lithaqua is a natural calcified seaweed. A pH buffer that can last a number of years. Lithaqua is a marine mineral sometimes referred to as coral, however it is calcified seaweed, high in trace elements and carbonates. Ideal for use in tanks and filter bays. Average particule size is 2-4mm. Modern filters contain many varied plastic media. These provide good support for bacteria, but Lithaqua goes one stage further. Not only do beneficial bacteria draw nutrients from the media, the media being of porous construction has a huge surface area up to 20 times greater than most plastic media. However the main advantage of Lithaqua is the high level of Carbonates which will improve carbonate alkalinity in soft water. It neutralizes low acid pH and reduces pH swings. It will keep the pH above 7, negating the use of quick fix short term pH buffers.

Filter Brushes
Filter Brushes are suited for both mechanical and biological filtration.
As water passes through a series of brushes in the filtration system, the bristles will catch and filter out suspended solids, whilst also providing an ample surface area where the nitrifying bacteria can colonize and thrive.
Clean the brushes by removing them from the filter, shaking them out and rinsing in pond water..DO NOT use tap water to rinse them, as this will severely to reduce or eliminate the beneficial bacteria which is growing on the brush
Bacteria Home
Bacteria Home ceramic filter medium for the aquarium in a shape for the settlement of nitrifying bacteria. Due to the cutout and the hollow cross-section, the specific filter surface is increased and improves water circulation even when the media is stacked close to each other. By flowing water through the medium, water molecules are broken, which increases the level of dissolved oxygen in it. The medium is used in an aquarium with a high biological load.

Media Bags
Media Bags are a most useful aid to bagging up, for example, Flocor or Alfagrog. You could even soak k1 (Kaldnes) in these sacks to seed the media up! Made from a plastic resin base, these very strong sacks are ideal for all filter media and can be fully submerged without degrading of the material. Designed with a draw cord for quick sealing. The ideal solution for gaining simple access for periodic cleaning to the filter contents. Size 85 cm x 52 cm approx. and is capable of holding 2 cubic .ft of Flocor for instance.
Gridded Pipe

Japanese matting is a preferred option for koi ponds due to its ease of customization for filter systems and its durable texture, ensuring it stays securely in place during maintenance. With its intricate weave, Japanese matting provides an ideal environment for beneficial bacteria to thrive. These bacteria are essential for breaking down harmful waste in the water, making Japanese matting an excellent choice for filtration media. Japanese Matting, probably one of the best of all the filtration media which is available in the UK today. Japanese Matting is extremely inert and easy to service, Japanese Matting is available in sheet form and can be cut to the desired sizes to fit your filter chamber by using an Angle Grinder or better still an ordinary Circular Saw but be careful and wear protective glasses and watch those fingers.

Barley straw​
Water Wurzel barley straw pods are made from the finest natural barley straw. They are safe to use in all outdoor ponds and water aquatic features and are a simple but effective method of controlling algae, blanket weed and green water problems.
Water Wurzel barley straw pods take about 2-3 weeks to become active and will work effectively for about 4 months. For continuous protection add a new pod approximately one month before replacing the existing pod.
Water Wurzel barley straw pods use chopped straw to give a greater surface area and to encourage a rapid growth of the micro-organisms that help keep the water clear.
Water Wurzel barley straw pods have an integtral cork floatation aid to help keep the pod closer to the surface where oxygen saturation levels are higher. Fixing the pods near moving water (eg waterfalls, fountains etc) will also aid efficiency.

Blue is the finest Grade, White is a medium coarse and Black is the Coarsest.
Your water should be filtered through the Black sheet first to remove the larger debris, then the white sheet and finally the blue sheet for the smaller particles.
